I don't have a problem with a diagnosis as long as it doesn't define who the child is. I know children with one or more of those disorders whose parents do a great job of using the diagnosis to treat the symptoms without allowing the diagnosis to be 'who' the child is. Sadly, however, I see many more who wear their child's diagnosis as a label and an excuse not to train them to behave.

Great comment Tara!

For me, the problem is with the word, 'disorder.' That word conjures up something that is broken and these kids aren't broken, they just need to be taught creatively. I'm sure there are those extreme cases, but it seems that everyone in public school has a label of some sort. I'm so glad we homeschool as the label around here is, GREATNESS! : )
