Manners... Does it Matter? 04/13/2010
Manners. What happened to them in our adult lives? We teach our children to say please and thank you. We teach our children to be kind and respectful. We teach them to be polite, but do we as adults practice this as well? Think about it, when a complete stranger holds the door open for you, do you say, "Thank you"? And doesn't it put a smile on your face when someone is being thoughtful? Or what about when you hold the door open for a complete stranger, do they say, "thank you" to you? And when they don't, you notice. I do. Sometimes I feel like screaming, "Hey, a THANK YOU would be nice!" But I don't, and after reading this quote, I know why... TM : ) Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you - not because they are nice, but because you are. ~Author Unknown CommentsMM 04/15/2010 9:08am

This is a hard lesson to teach children when other children are not nice and/or polite. But I am firm and I, hopefully, am a good example of it. Thanks for the reminder that it is not wasted effort.
