Summer... It's the start of the 4th of July weekend.  How will you celebrate?  BBQ?  Beach?  Camping?  Gardening?  Maybe remind your kids why we celebrate the 4th?  I'll do the latter for sure.  Happy 4th!   TM : )

Plant a Bouquet 07/01/2010
 
Summer... Plant a bouquet of flowers.  You don't need a big space.  Get a nice looking pot, ceramic or plastic, get a bag of good potting soil, and have your kids help pick a combination of plants and flowers.  Get your plants small, they'll get big quick enough.  Depending on the size pot you have, you'll want 4-7 plants. Purchase different sizes (plants), some flowering, some not, some tall, some trailing... then mix them all up, plant them in the soil and put in a nice sunny spot.  Don't forget to water.

Summer... Anyone into taking a nap?  No?  How about laying in the grass looking up at the sky... ask the kids if they see any pictures in the clouds...   TM : )

Summer... Have you tried growing your own tomatoes?  Even if you don't have a big yard, or no yard... you just need a good size pot, a tomato plant, some sunshine and water.  Have you tried just picked tomatoes?  You'll never like store bought taste tomatoes ever again!   TM : )

Summer... READ!  Read for fun, read a magazine, read to relax, read something you've been meaning to, read that cookbook recipe that you put under your stacks of paper, read to your kids... get the idea?   TM : )

Summer... Play in the water today.  Go to the beach, or maybe the lake.  No beach or lake near you?  How about good ole fashion sprinkler play!   TM : )

Summer... Get the camera, digital or video, go outside with the kids and take pictures of beautiful things.  Close ups of flowers, a leaf, maybe a neat design in the rock wall behind your house.  Find letters that are made from something unusual, a light pole can be an I or a circular stepping stone can be an O... get the idea?  Spell out your child's name, print it up, frame it!
