Pooh Bear's Wise Words 03/22/2010
I hope you had a great weekend and you are feeling refreshed and ready to start a new week of teaching. Every Monday I feel a little bit like Pooh Bear. One of Pooh's favorite sayings is, "What's for breakfast?" In other words, I wonder what's going to happen today? Isn't that a wonderful thing about teaching at home? The excitement of something new. I feel optimistic about the week ahead and hoping my children will feel the same as Pooh Bear. TM : ) 4 Comments Something New 03/11/2010
Learning something new is always a little nerve racking. And if you have an audience that watch you live, OOHH BOY, the more you wish you could put a bag over your head! But let's think about this rationally... something new is adventurous! Something new is exciting. Something new is oh, so, scary! Now lets talk about homeschool. If you are new to this nontraditional type of education, welcome. And yes, it IS a bit scary when you first start homeschooling. But remember, it IS also adventurous and exciting as well. And for those of us who have been doing this for a while, we'll take the bags off our heads and welcome you! TM : ) New @ Homeschooling 03/01/2010
When you are new to the homeschool lifestyle, please remember... You'll be OKAY! In the beginning, it is intimidating, it is new, it is scary to take on your child's education! To keep calm, take a deep breath and remember that you have decided to homeschool for a reason. Keep that thought with you as you move along this path that you are unfamiliar with. Please realize that you are not alone. We have all started where you are right now. If you are nodding your head in agreement with this post, read The Unknown when you have a moment. I promise, you'll be okay, I've still got my hair to prove it! TM : ) Refreshed 01/08/2010
It's Friday. How did you do? How was your first week back from winter break? Were you refreshed and ready to go? Or was it a slow, crawling start? I started the week ready with actually a bit of gusto, but my youngest (1st grade) had other plans! She was refreshed to the point of, "Let's just have school sometimes." Okay, I needed to try a different approach. Hmmm... learning without feeling like school. Ah-Ha! A trip to the library never feels like school in our household. What? You want to make Valentine's cards? Does that include writing? It DOES? Yes, we're in! The computer? You want to go on BrainPop? Fine with me. I think I like my daughter's refreshed attitude after all. Her attitude has helped me to differentiate between "school sometimes" and learning all the time. TM : ) New 01/07/2010
New. This is the word of the day for me. "New" year, "new" classes, "new" baby (not me!), "new" homeschool families that I have been meeting. "New" can be innovative and thrilling. It can also be intimidating and frightening. But instead of being nervous about something "new", change the word nervous to excited. It's all in the way you view it. And I think I'll view it as fresh, novel, original, and do I dare say it? New. TM : ) Thoughts on the word, "New". 11/09/2009
Why does the word, "New" seem so scary? This is my 2nd post of my "new" blog and yes, it feels a bit, "new". Do you remember back to your elementary school days, wearing brand "new" tennis shoes and all the kids would try to step on your toes to break in your "new" shoes? Why did we do that? As an adult, I think I like fresh and "new". I've been checking out different blogs and have decided that most blog posts are SO long. I think I will keep the blogs I post brief, fresh, and I'm a little bit scared now... "New". TM : ) First Post! 11/08/2009
Still new to this whole notion that I'm starting a blog. We'll see how it goes. | E Komo Mai
