In the Moment 11/30/2009
Live. Right now. Right here. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow, but right at this moment. When you homeschool, you are teaching your children to be focused, and what is focused? Right now... at this very moment. TM : ) Music Forever 11/29/2009
The sounds of loud singing, a guitar, and a piano usually start my day before I even have coffee! Thank goodness they remember the rule of "no electric guitar before 9am" or that would be going full blast as well. As much as I give my "Mommy is getting mad" look because it's too loud and too early, I really love the fact that my kids are so musical. I'm so happy that we homeschool and are free to explore what we enjoy. To be able to play music throughout the day is music to my ears. TM : ) 1 Comment Holiday Season 11/28/2009
It's official. You know the holidays are amongst us when the Thanksgiving leftovers are sparse, "What? No more cranberries!" Food aside, I am looking forward to this Christmas Season. Yes, I said Christmas. I am not going to worry about offending people that celebrate other holidays. I respect that they do, and I wouldn't be offended if someone wished me good cheer from what they celebrate. What would happen if we were able to blur the lines of different celebrations and just enjoy the "Season"? Cranberries for everyone! TM : ) Quote of the Day 11/27/2009
"I trust the time is coming, when the occupation of an instructor to children will be deemed the most honorable of human employment." Angelina Grimke Happy Thanksgiving! 11/26/2009
If you are reading this on the date specified above, you shouldn't! : ) Enjoy your day and indulge in your "thankfulness". TM : ) Thankful 11/25/2009
Thankful. That's how I feel this time of the year as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches. With many uncertain of what the near future holds, there is a constant in our homeschool lives that will remain... our strength with our hearts and minds... to pass that along to our children is a thankful gift in itself. TM : ) Confidence 11/24/2009
The more you do something, the better you get, it's inevitable. I mean, unless you are tone deaf and trying to be an opera singer! But if your heart is in it, then tone deaf or not, you are going to succeed within yourself. When you are confident and passionate about what you do, there is not one person who can take that away from you. I take that back... there IS one person that might not like your singing, yourself. Self is your biggest critic. Buy some earplugs, put them in, and sing as loud as you can. TM : ) Be Yourself 11/23/2009
Just recently, I have started looking at other people's blogs. They are both inspiring and intimidating. Inspiring in that, hey, they give you a different perspective. I'm always up for a new view, I'm a homeschooler. Intimidating in that, well, it almost makes me feel a tad insecure. The beautiful pictures, the nicely written stories, ("Am I doing this right?"), almost dream like... ("Oh no, should I be doing my blog like theirs?")... Wait a second! Stop staring at those lovely pictures and wake up!... I'm me and I like me. Thank you Self, for reminding me that it's okay to be, my own blog. TM : ) Quote of the Day 11/22/2009
"When I approach a child, he inspires in me two sentiments; tenderness for what he is, and respect for what he may become." Louis Pasteur Expert Opinion 11/21/2009
Here's a thought... How is it that people who have never homeschooled become experts at this subject when interjecting their opinion upon a homeschooler? For me, my confidence strong, I have no problems with people like this. For those of you that are new to homeschool and your confidence is a bit on the wobbly side, a negative opinion can shake your very core. Please don't let it. Read this quote I found and keep your head held high! TM : ) "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Smallpeople always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." Mark Twain | E Komo Mai
